    Rim size selection

Thanks. Based on reading a lot of other posts, I think the right way to go (for me, anyway) might be a 17x7 with 4.5 inches of backspacing and 0 offset. So, when I see someone with a nice set like yours that looks like it fits well, I always ask. Thanks again.

    Rim size selection

I think those look great John. Looks like they tuck behind the inserts without a problem. What backspacing and offset did you use? I'm thinking 17 inch wheels for my '68 NY hardtop. Can't decide on style yet, but it's hard to go wrong with a nice set of five spokes like yours.

Hi Dylan, did you ever hear back from these guys?

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Good suggestion, but A run on the highway will have to wait until a few more things are sorted out to my satisfaction. I can drive it around the subdivision safely, knowing I won’t plant it in someone’s yard, or worse. But higher speeds won’t be seen until the front end gets rebuilt

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Oh I’ve definitely created a monster... haha! He watches whenever I work on anything, asks lots of questions, and isn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty. He’s also taken videos of the car running to show off to his friends. After watching “Ford v. Ferrari” he became a “car guy.” Ha!

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Haha... okay, will do. I’ve been wanting to take some anyway, and my son wants to give her a wash. So we may kill two birds with one stone there. I did attach a couple shots of my Chrysler-addicted son working on her from last weekend.:usflag:

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Thanks guys. I guess a 20-30 min drive around the subdivision won’t harm anything. At least starting her up over the weekend verified the work done by my 14 year old. He’s pretty enthusiastic about the car, so I showed him how to remove the spark plugs, then gap and install the new ones, as...

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

I have a torque wrench. What I don’t have is time. At least right now. :)

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Thanks, that I know too well. Had to replace everything from the catalytic converter back on a ‘92 Dakota once because I was only driving it from my apartment to my PD and back for quite a while. Just a couple short miles. Lesson learned. The exhaust on the New Yorker has to be replaced...

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

Thanks for the responses fellas. I’m a bit leery of driving it around at this time, but it’s good to know this may be “normal.” The engine had been rebuilt, so I wouldn’t think it would be head gaskets, but you never know. Replacing head gaskets isn’t something I can just do in my garage...

    Oily Water Collecting Under Tailpipe

My son and I started up the ‘68 New Yorker yesterday and I saw something I really didn’t want to see. There was an oily liquid coming out of the tail pipe, and smoke that was predominantly white in color. Head gasket failure? The car has been sitting in our garage basically since we bought...

For Sale Limited Edition RF-4C Phantom II Prints (Benefits Veterans Foundation)

Well, I always hate reading about great planes that get chopped up for scrap. Just as well she met her end being useful. The benefit prints are selling well! 14 since Saturday with more orders trickling in!

For Sale Limited Edition RF-4C Phantom II Prints (Benefits Veterans Foundation)

Ouch! Well, I guess better to end as a target drone than wasting away in AZ? Talk about your Viking funerals! (Ha!) Of course, since you were the CC on that one, I'm sure you had some rather personal feelings about how it met its end. No problem re: the word on the prints. They're a good...

    Are there any other options?

Let me know what they say, please. I'm going to eventually have the front power drums converted to discs when I hit that particular system. It'll be interesting to know what kind of mods, if any, need to be made to use their 9 inch power brake boosters on our C Bodies.

    My Other Job...

I just completed this profile of a McDonnell F-101B Voodoo. The plane is on display in a small park near a regional airport close to my house. One of hundreds of Voodoos built here in St. Louis and used to defend our country's airspace intercepting potentially hostile aircraft. The other...

    Wheel Stud Question

This is what I plan on doing, too. The bonehead who owned the car before me neglected to tell me about the sheared left rear wheel stud (see image). I accept some blame, since really I should have pulled all of the wheel covers to check. However, he had to change the wheels on the car, from...

    My Other Job...

Love the Tomcats/Bombcats. One of these days, when time presents, I may have to do that. Wish I had time do do all the planes I like, or that I get requests for. Sometimes things get sidetracked. I’m finishing up commissioned work for a veteran’s association, and everything else was put on...
