New guy needs a little help

I also think those black painted spindles came from a smaller car. There's no way to make them work with C-body upper control arms and lower ball joints. If you are going to keep the Leeds kit, I would post a request for 68 Drum knuckles/spindles in the MOPAR PARTS AND CARS WANTED FORUM...

Welcome! Like your car! I vote for getting stock rear bumper brackets and ditching the continental kit.

    1967 Fury Steering Shaft Removal

For 1970 Fury, the telescoping (2-part) steering shaft is removed from the column and installed in the column the same way, whether the power steering gear is manual or power. If your 1967 steering shaft is telescoping for accident protection, I think the steering shafts are a bolt-in swap.

    Trans upgrade

JEGS ad says 727, not 518. JW Performance 92457: Ultra-Bell Bellhousing Big Block Chrysler to TF-727 - JEGS I was trying to learn. I asked the question because I did not know about cutting off bell housings. I thought 727 might have had a bolt on bell housing at some point.

    Trans upgrade

Thanks. I guess I'd need to buy longer grade 8 front pump bolts. My front pump bolts are 5/16 thread. Any ideas on what stress this set up can take before the bolts break?

    Trans upgrade

What years of 727 transmission does this fit? Or is it mislabeled and really it only fits later transmission models? Example We're not bolting it onto my 1971 727

    1968 Plymouth furyIII wheel bearings

For 1971, I tightened the nut to 90 inch pounds, 3/8 inch torque wrench, 3/8 to ½ adapter, 1 1/16 inch long socket. After that, per the factory shop manual, I backed off 1/8 turn. Some say the brake rotor or drum should be spinning while you torque the nut. I've never worried about spinning...

My 1970 Fury Convertible has 3 seat belts and no retractors. Things may have changed since 1967.

Wifey called about a noise coming from her wagon

Tapered bearings give much more support in turns. Green bearings are good for straight ahead driving, like at a drag strip. I would use tapered bearings. Also, early Green bearings failed at about 28000 miles. I found that out the hard way.

Wifey called about a noise coming from her wagon

Rubbing/grinding sounds bad. If it's 8.75, you may need to pull the axles, then pull the center section and inspect.

    Thread sealer?

I have used thread sealer on Aluminum intake manifolds for heater hose nipples and temperature sending units. I used it because I thought it sealed gaps between the TSU or hose nipple threads and the manifold threads, not places where metal was in firm contact with metal. I further thought the...

Transmission questions again on my 68 fury iii

Surfaces in a trans are supposed to be super smooth. I know you're deep into it, but the person who sold you the trans should have junked/recycled it. If the person had any decency, he'd give you a refund.

sorry to hear. If the 1975 valve body does not clean up perfect, I advise replacing it. Hope the transmission parts above it are in better condition.

Looks bad, Stu. Sorry to see that. Is that valve body from the original 1968 trans or the 1975 trans? Whichever it is from is probably junk
