    the contacts look pretty smashed or ground down. have you tried installing the bulb and pushing the wires in from the back of the housing? sometimes the spring inside will get compressed and not push the contacts up to meet the bulb.

    seems like the trim may not go completely to the end of the bow. there must have been a little room left to compensate for not centering the trim strip on the assembly line . i guess the question would be if the trim strip was pre-cut or if it came on a roll. if cut during installation every car...

    if the dash pad is off, just grind down the rivets flush from the back side. a little help with a punch and they will pop right out. can't help with the installation of new.
