The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Is the carb. new or has it been rebuilt? Maybe the idle circuit is dirty or clogged. If that is the case then it could run good off idle but keep stalling when you stop. My friends 340 Cuda had that problem, and he had the idle very high, around 1200-1400 RPM. The carb. was an old Edelbrock...

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

With the cam timing advanced, you may need to idle a little higher. 650-700 RPM is not excessive. You are also running on today's gas and not what was available when the FSMs were written.

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

I know what advancing the cam timing does, I just don't think it is something I would do on a bone stock engine with miles on it.

    Rod Cap Reinstall Alignment

When replacing rod bearings on an engine that you are not removing the pistons from, you are better off doing one at a time. It cuts down on the chances of mixing them up. I know this is no help to you now, but the advice above is good. It should be able to get you back on track.

The old stalling when put in gear syndrome

Are there any performance changes? Does it have headers, Alum. manifold, bigger carb, etc? If not why did you want to advance the cam timing?

Can you help a Small block Chevy guy understand a 1962 Chrysler 413 with cross-ram manifold? - compression and pump gas?

As said above, don't expect Chevrolet prices when it comes to buying parts. The long rams are nice. I ran a set in the late sixties, and they work well on heavier cars but run out of steam on higher end. On the heavy Chryslers they are great. I did not find it hard to get the carbs running right...

pictures of my harmonic balancer - advice?

Use a new or rebuilt one. Stay away from used ones as most will be 40 years old and most likely have dried out rubber.

Get rid of that and get a new one. Do a search, there are lots of options available.

    Is this normal cam wear?

Castrol GT Classic has lots of ZDDP in it. I use it in my engines but for a break in there are a few good oils made just for that. I agree too, that cam and lifters needs to be replaced.

1968 Dodge Monaco not starting, also has exhaust manifold leak.

What Big_John said is correct. If your manifolds are nice and straight, you do not need gaskets. I have used the Fel-Pro gaskets on big block Mopars without any problems. If they are even slightly warped, you will not get a good seal without them.

1968 Dodge Monaco not starting, also has exhaust manifold leak.

I would test it first before I changed it.

1968 Dodge Monaco not starting, also has exhaust manifold leak.

When you were trying to get it started did you pour a little fuel down the carb? Try disconnecting the fuel line going to the carburetor and put it into a jar. Crank the motor to see if the fuel pump is working. You should see fuel pumping into the jar. Because you just changed it is no...

What is going on with my valve train?!?!?!?!

I would do what was suggested above and cut open the oil filter. I think you should also drain the oil and see what it looks like. If it looks okay then I would put some clean oil and a new filter on and run it for a little while and look at it again. You might be okay.

I've been using Crane adjustable rockers on Isky Hydraulic cams for over 50 years with no problems. What do the push rods look like? Are these 440 Source's parts?
