    What is this?

I believe the stainless pieces go on the front of the quarter windows. It looks like one is broken at the bottom, where it rivets to the window holder.

    1969 sport fury headrest differences?

Perhaps others with this style headrest will chime in with notes on the ease with which their’s move up or down.

I’ve not had a C body with these headrests but for what it’s worth, my B body is the opposite. In spades.

So, assuming that others are correct and this is intended to be an “infinitely adjustable” headrest, can somebody please explain to me why the bench-style has more than one notch? And specifically, why a notch to hold the headrest against the seat?

And again, please explain why the different notch style from the bench-type?

But the step tries to prevent pushing it down, not pulling it up. Am I wrong? And please demonstrate why.

    Intended for one position only.

In case anyone missed it, polara71 disagrees with me. Twice. Care to clarify?

Btw, as for the factory pics of headrests in unstandard positions, I can only blame liberal 1960s production directors.

Lol, that sure didn’t take long! I was obviously wrong about factory pics but we’ve established that the headrests are indeed moveable. I still believe that the designer intended them to be fixed, above the seat. Otherwise, why only one, unramped notch?

Also, it is a MFer to get the bucket-type down against the seat, while the bench-type goes there easily. Bottom Line: bucket-type is intended by designers to be fixed, above the seat.

You certainly won’t find any factory pics like that.

The difference: there is a notch for the against-seat position on the bench-type. There is no notch for the against-seat position on the bucket/type, as well as no notch in between. There is technically NOT a “lowered position”, by design. But I agree that it’s:thumbsup: semantics.

They’re supposed to be curved. I also don’t know for sure if the two types are interchangeable but I suspect that they are, from reading an earlier post.

    1969 sport fury headrest differences?

I certainly admit that the bucket-type are not immovable. These cars come completely apart and a person can change things how they like. Are the C body bucket-type different than the B body? Anybody got a pic of a C body bucket-type with three notches, as the bench-type all have? I maintain that...

And 300 rag’s picture is of the correct, fixed position, so I’m not sure what it’s proving. Please enlighten me!

And btw, here is a pic of an original from my ‘69 GTX, which I’ve owned since ‘78. Please notice that there is only one notch in the shafts. The bench-type have three. I guess it is semantics as to whether or not they are “adjustable”. Here’s my amended statement: The bucket-type are intended to...
