Heater core leak on my new carpet

If you have a shop vac, I'd soak the area with water and then use the shop vac to dry it and basically keep doing the same, alternate soaking with water and vaccing it up. I don't think using soap will help, the ethelyene glycol is easily dissoved in water so you don't need the soap to do...

Best suggestions for period floor mats

I bookmarked this place a while ago, I might at some point ask them if they make reproduction non-carpet-backed rubber or vinyl floor mats: https://www.nosreproductions.com They do appear to make correct-fitting old car floor mats, maybe carpet-backed? I'm not seeing the single 1-piece mat...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

My original non-tilt wheel does fit the splines of the TT column. Interestingly, the retaining nut (which seems to be 1/2 ID) is slightly too small so I'd have to source a slightly larger nut. When I measure from one of the column mounting bolt holes under the dash to the front edge of the...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I'm going to have to figure out how to pull the steering wheel off the column. I must have did it once upon a time way back. Next time I'm at the car I'll bring some pullers and putz with it. The ring and ornament in the above photos are spares that I have in the basement. Yes, the bolt...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Yes! I peeled the plastic cover open a little - and the mesh was under it! So project TT-Column is back on! I'm going to try this: Why wouldn't that work?

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I note that the non-TT original column in my '67 Monaco is the mesh / safety column. When it comes to the TT columns - did they ever put a safety TT column in any '67 C-body? It's too bad this isn't a safety column. Makes me think twice if I want to put it in.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

This is a full pic of the TT column I have: I guess it's a solid column? Not safety (no mesh?). Would this confirm it was a '67 column. Would '68 definately have a mesh outer tube?

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

A little off topic - is this a '68 (regular) steering wheel, with a '67 center cap? I mean, I know it's a '67 cap, I thought it changed in '68. But it seems to fit the chrome horn ring (which is slightly altered vs the '67 ring, is missing the extension tips on the ends). I like the '67 ring...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I've just checked the mechanical action (engage and return) of the turn switch, it operates fine. Will check the electrical function later. And yes, the rod was in there. It seems to be normally recessed in the hole by about an inch. I held the column upside down, had to tap the shaft a few...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Thanks for the pics and the offer for parts. I'll think it over. One thing I've not yet seen - I presume there's a rod the goes down the hole in the shaft, I assume there's threads at the far and of the rod that engages something that holds the shaft at the desired length? What is the length...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Until I see a photo or diagram of both of them in profile, I'm not going to understand why. Different shaft diameter? Different splines? I'm really not going to care if the telecopic part doesn't function and is internally modified to be fixed. In that situation I wouldn't even need the...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

So what they say about these columns being related to (or made by) GM / Saginaw look to be true. There's a '67-68 Cadillac column on ebay that I've taken some pics from to compare with what I have: The guy I bought my column from was parting a Monaco a few years back, he claims it was a '67...

Front seat belts for my 65 fury

Buff it up with a wire wheel and it will look ok. I might have some old bolts, I do have some seat belts also. Hey, good to see someone here with a C-body from Windsor (my home town). I'm in London, but I go to Windsor about once a month or so. I think it's time for some pics of your Fury.

    Cowl fresh air venting

What can you do, if you're here, and you want to make these areas less prone to material build up, prevent rusting, etc? I still don't get how and where water flows/drains through these side passages but allows fresh air to enter through the kick panel vents.

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Yes I have the '67 Polara Monaco service manual. The steering column service section only shows the regular column, makes no mention of T/T column. The electrical section does show exploded view of steering wheel and associated guts, but only for the "adjustable" column, the very top-end...

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

Yes, I see the ring, but what else do I need? Are the steering wheels swap-able between standard and tilt columns for '67 or '68? What about other internal hardware, nuts, bolts, etc? And why can I pull the shaft out like that?

Question about tilt steering colum for '67 - '68 Dodge Monaco / Polara

I have this tilt steering column that I was told was from a '67 Monaco. I know it was from a Monaco, truth is I can't be sure if the guy I got it from was accurate or if it was from a '68. Maybe someone can tell me if it would matter (was there any difference between those years?). What's...
