Could be the dash control is no good. Everything may be working but it may not be turning on. I currently have that problem in my Newport. Neither the AC or heater will work.

There is no issue with a manual trans and AC; I've had it in two of my cars, and there's many a Corvette with a 4-speed and AC.

I think it was called Oildale Radiator. Two brothers worked together on North Chester. Did excellent work, and two humble guys. I just did a search and don't see the shop anymore. A shame.

I have AC in my '70 Newport, and I use it. It gets quite hot here in the summer months. I use it even with the top down. Why? Sitting at a light that cold air feels great! Moving, it doesn't really matter.

That's interesting; never thought if that possibility. Then again, I have removed the heat riser from my car, as well as those I had before it.

How do you know it started to overheat? Do you have a temperature gauge or an idiot light? Cars getting warm in traffic is not uncommon, or a really large problem. However, if your radiator was belching coolant, that would be another matter. I will say I had this problem, idiot light coming...

You're welcome. I put one of those on the '62 I had, as well as my Son's Gremlin. I bought them at the annual Western Street Rod Nationals in Bakersfield, CA. You can probably find one in a street rod magazine.

It's normal. Installing something like what I have here is very helpful.

Extra cooling by using the "wrong" radiator should not be a problem.
