Suggestions for a "Performance" muffler that isn't too loud

I really like the Magnaflows I have on my Newport.

Headman Headers....do they ALWAYS burn plug leads and arc out on the headers???

I've had Hedmans on the 401 in the Gremlin since we built it; have had no problems.

Have you ever had anyone tell you, "Those don't belong on that car!"? My buddy with the Hurst got that all the time! It's like, "Shut up; it's not your car!"

    Let's see your tips

A buddy of mine added some tips on his 300 Hurst. Purists hated them, but I thought they look cool! You might have to expand the pics to get a good view.

Has anyone used Summit Turbo XL mufflers?

I had Turbos on my '70 Newport with a 440. Worked well and sounded great... until I had a backfire. They did not survive! I would suggest using Magnaflows instead; they are designed to survive a backfire.

Ebay Headers - too good of a price to be true?

The center dumps and the power steering are a problem, which is why the Sanderson's are not on my Chrysler. If I was in to fabricating, they would be.

Ebay Headers - too good of a price to be true?

Look like the Sanderson Headers I bought over 12 years ago fr $300. Price does look fishy.

    Muffler suggestions

I had Turbos on my Newport for over ten years. Worked fine, and their low cost. However, they will not survive a backfire. Magnaflows are designed to survive one, which is why I bought those after my Turbos were destroyed in a series of backfires I experienced some six years ago.

Heat Riser - Free or Keep Frozen?

There are some valley pan gaskets available that have the intake crossover closed off. But, if your heat riser is functional you will NOT want to sue one of these.

Heat Riser - Free or Keep Frozen?

Not necessary to find a new manifold. If you have a good exhaust man, he can remove the riser and weld the holes on your manifold. No problemo!! I've had it done twice; sorry I don't have a picture. Actually, three times, but one left the valve in place.

Heat Riser - Free or Keep Frozen?

If you were in California I'd say to take it to a muffler man and have it removed; not needed. But your weather is a lot colder than ours. I had the ones on my '62 New Yorker, '79 Cordoba, and my current Newport all removed and the holes welded shut. Not on the Cordoba though, now that I...
