I had the brake booster problem in the past. The nipple broke and had to hit the local parts store for a replacement. Ran like crap. Do the old carb and choke cleaner trick, when it's idling in park, spray in certain areas around carb, spacer, hoses etc. and see if it affects the idle.

Just an update. It was the u-joints. They were pretty worn. Now it cruises like the boat it is. Thanks for the help.

I don't believe so. If it was then I would assume that it would be difficult to pull the drum off. I can take the drum off by hand with no tools.
