    Timing and engine temp

Took a 6 hour drive to Watkins Glen NY. It ran fine but it still was in the higher end of the gauge. It didn't go over so that was a plus. The cooling system has been gone through. Rad professionally flushed, shroud installed, larger fan and new thermostat. It's a 318 2 barrel. Maybe I need a...

    Timing and engine temp

I finally got to setting the timing with my timing light. The manual says 5 BTDC. The engine seemed to like a couple degrees more. around 7-8. It also seems smoother at the upper rpms. I'll see how this goes. I had it previously (by ear) set too advanced. Around 12.

    Timing and engine temp

The whole cooling system has been done. Flushed, new parts etc. I did advance the timing a bit and it seemed to help. Temp was lower. Timing is probably the issue. I'll hook up the timing light tomorrow. Thanks.

    Timing and engine temp

My wife's 67 Fury wagon seems to run on the higher side of normal temp. I remember in the past someone talking about the timing being off a little will affect the temp. Right now the 318 2 barrel runs perfect. I had the rad flushed, better fan, fan shroud and new water pump and thermostat...
