Adding Vaccuum Advance to a lean burn 1982 distributor?

I have made the conversion to a GM HEI electronic spark, everything seems to be working OK. However, the electronic distributor I have installed has no vaccuum advance. I've noticed that the 1981 lean burn distributor is much simplified, with no centrufical advance weights, and has one pick...

1966 Poly 318 to LA 318 Swap - Kickdown linkage

I do have an old hood pull cable that I was thinking of using, has anybody tried that? I know Lokar sells cables too, but I don't mind keeping a secret about where the parts came from when I bring the car to Pebble Beach

1966 Poly 318 to LA 318 Swap - Kickdown linkage

I will be having a hard time getting my welder back, so I ask if I could swap in the 67 linkage?

1966 Poly 318 to LA 318 Swap - Kickdown linkage

I know If I had the money to have the poly rebuilt I definitely wouldn't be doing the swap. I wish I was someone who collected cars and just drove them on the weekend or something but this is my only car. need to get back on the road before summer's over and I lose my mind..and everything else...

1966 Poly 318 to LA 318 Swap - Kickdown linkage

I'm swapping out the Poly for an LA 318 in my 66 Fury, I was thinking of modifying the bracket that bolts onto the intake so that I can use my original kickdown linkage. Maybe I could cut the bottom of the Poly bracket off and weld on the bottom of the LA bracket... or just replace the linkage...

Thanks traintech55, I'm going with your latter advice, plan to keep the old engine for a later rebuild - for a poly powered schwinn stingray

    66 poly to LA318 swap - keeping 19 spline 727 TF

I would like to replace my 66 poly 318 with a 1970 or 71 LA 318 from a challenger. I Know that the 1966 727 transmission is the last year with a 19 spline input. I would like to know if I can use the flexplate from the poly on the LA 318 motor ( which had a 24 spline input on a 904 transmission)...

Poly 318 wide block with a 2bbl and single point distrib troubles

I'm getting spray up through the carb, as before the car is backfiring through the carb.... before I replaced the carb it did this too and started a little fire...maybe signs are pointing to a valve problem here? I am contemplating a swap to a 1976 225 slant 6 and 904 trans just to get her back...

Poly 318 wide block with a 2bbl and single point distrib troubles

I would try to do that with the rag, but the thing is it will only run once, when I first try it. It then it acts like it is flooded and won't run again until I let it sit for a while. So maybe I can have a friend start it for me and I could just cover the top of the carb and see if it stalls.

Poly 318 wide block with a 2bbl and single point distrib troubles

Update - So I put a brand new Carter bbd carb (chinese copy but oh well..) and new timing chain, it seems to have the same problem: it will start right up on the first turn of the key and run for like 5 seconds then it won't run again. I know I've tried a lot of things here in mixed order. I am...

8 3/4 Rear Wheel bearing - can't get it out!

Man with the hat - are you referring to the passenger side brake adjuster? So I smack on the pass side asle and this will help loosen up the driver's side? I will try this.

Ignition Coil Condensers - how / where to buy?

I am having a hard time finding a replacement external iginition coil condenser with the longer wire, all that ever comes up in a search is condensers that go inside the distributor cap.

8 3/4 Rear Wheel bearing - can't get it out!

Yep, I connected one of these to a slide-puller, by unscrewing the middle part and attatching the slide puller there.

It's a '66. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss any nuts. I put the socket through the axle end holes and removed all the nuts...

Poly 318 wide block with a 2bbl and single point distrib troubles

I think I will go with that suggestion. I didn't have so much luck with a later carter BBD on an 1984 AMC 258, but that was a few years ago, I was a teenager and the carb that had the stepper motor. The one you guys mentioned seems like a good idea.

Can't get the axle out of the housing. I'd post a picture, but it'd just be that slide puller bolted to the hub...

Poly 318 wide block with a 2bbl and single point distrib troubles

Any reccomendations on a new 2bbl carb? I was thinking maybe Edelbrock or Holley would be a good choice, as I don't want to deal with the strombergs anymore.
