    1959 Dodge Coronet

I swapped a complete rear axle from a 1968 Chrysler Newport into my 1961 Plymouth Fury, mainly for the same reason. It was a direct bolt in swap. It was 5/8th of an inch wider than the Plymouth axle. (split that in half). Gear ratio was the same. most C body axles will fit. Do some measuring...

    318 poly power pack

It seems they were very loose with terminology back in the day. V800, power pack, hi performance all turn up in different factory publications. Although V800 was used for the dual four barrel variation in the 57 and 58 Plymouths.

    Queer car

No one has mentioned the trans filter. A clogged filter will cause some issues like you mention. It's a cheap and easy fix. Won't do anything for a rear end problem though.

    318 Poly Carb

I'm pretty sure all Mopar 2 bbl carburetors with a 4 bolt mount pattern will interchange Chris. Throttle linkage may become an issue. In 1962 the cable linkage was introduced which "pulled" the throttle open. Previous to that the mechanical linkage would "push" the throttle open.

    318 poly power pack

Yes. The 61 parts book shows similar info with no reference to "V" and no reference to "super pak". I date back to the day when my 62 Fury 318 4 BBL was refered to as a "power pack" engine at the dealer. I just always wondered if the cam shaft was different then the 2 BBL 318. Thanks to Devea...

    318 poly power pack

This may have been a export only option. N/A in US My search shows there was no "Super Pak" offered in N America. The V 800 was a dual 4 bbl option on 318's in 1957/58 in the USA. No V 800 after 1958

    318 poly power pack

Interesting. Is that found in a factory publication? Sounds more sales/marketing orented than technical information. Parts book lists a "power package". I have seen the V 800 in reference to 57/58 318 dual four bbl option.

    318 poly power pack

I was just able to find a reference to a "power package" in my 61 parts book. Camshaft, part number only, 1944712. I'm guessing it is the power pack 318 as all others are listed as "high performance" engines

    318 poly power pack

Plymouth offered a 318 poly power pack engine option from 1958 through 1962. It included a 4 bbl carb, dual exhaust and a up graded dist vacuum advance and produced 260 HP. The better choice seems like it would be the 350/361 golden commando at 305 HP. For that reason the 318 power pack is a...

    Rear Axle Bearing Noise

There are some 8 3/4 and Dana housings that have a removable plug at the bearing area that one can replace with a zerk fitting. I've seen them on factory Hemi equipped cars and some HD 440 equipped cars. It might be a possible to drill and tap one yourself.

    Gearboxes...

Not likely. The "cable shift" transmissions used from 56 through 65 would not easily adapt to a wire shift. Not saying it can't be done, but you would need an adapter from your wire shift and a custom fabricated shift cable..... and a lot of engineering. good luck.

    Oil filter question

I keep an eye out on ebay for NOS Champ J10's, J12's and J13's. Have a pretty good stock. I don't use the modern suppressor plugs in the old cars.

    Oil filter question

my buddy Ronnie had a '63 Dodge Super Stocker - aluminum front end and all the SS goodies. Engine was a 426 wedge with 13.5 : 1 compression, two staggered Carter 3447 four barrels, Dougers by Head, etc. The Champion salesman who frequented the shop where Ronnie worked convinced him to try a...

Your right Stan.... I don't know why I get sucked into responding to a question where the OP, (and others), question the facts with their own theory's.

:welcome: Rick. We need pictures or we won't believe you and figure your making everything up....:poke::) Sounds like a choke adjustment is in order. Follow the FSM procedure for initial setting and fine tune from there.
