I'm getting closer to purchasing my own printer and wondering if any current or future owners have any advice. Whatever I get its will be able to print more functional filaments like nylon and will have an enclosure because it will go in my relatively cold basement. I'm familiar with the Bamboo...

to get tough/strong result i think you/we need printers that can handle high heat filaments. all metal hot end that can do ~300C. I'm liking what Im seeing with parts made of carbon fiber nylon and various nylon blends. POM/Delrin filament is available but is difficult to print. My prints are...

If you have an average DSLR camera that works fine. THis video shows one of the free products called Meshroom but your computer needs an expensive video card to make it work well. I gotta try this once I get a new puter.

And if pics can get you started then your drafting skills come back into play. Draw your object from multiple sides. Take pics and convert to svg and import. For example, my plan to recreate the curve on the 69 fury thumbwheel radio was to put one on its side and trace the front curve and fill...

You know in Tinkercad you can import a pic of a plastic clip and it will turn into a 3d object. First have to convert the pic into SVG file - free online. Best if the pic is mostly black and white like an off white clip on a black background. Thats how I did these...just a pic from web. The...

I'm mostly using Tinkercad and will move to Fusion 360. But while it is limited if you are doing functional things then its not too bad - I think I identify with making semi-complex things from more basic pieces because of my Lego days many years ago. Anyway if you have an all metal hot end...

The new Jupiter printer is 11L x 6W x 11.8H . That might fit even the 69 water reservoir. Wait, you have a printer? Couldnt you have designed and printed your own belt clips? Or is the design part the deal breaker?

crap, somehow i missed your replies. thanks guys Yes filament is not waterproof and also not food safe unless you treat with solvent to melt it altogether or cover it with something else like epoxy resin. However liquid Resin printing (SLA) does produce a water tight seal. This is what I'm...

Its ABS and yes a solvent would blur the lines and probably make it smooth. I was trying for vinyl/leather texture and I don't think the printer (0.4mm print head) can do a more subtle texture. Ironically the belts I have are older and will not fit this reproduction. When I tried another set of...

Reviving this. On the bottom I used the online example of this seatbelt clip and made slight changes to strengthen it up. It printed nice but up close you can see the lines as by its nature printing in layers causes lines. In the top pierce I was able to apply a fairly new texture function on...

Restoration Underway 1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT Canadian Promotional Car - MCG Article

Right, just in case anyone was wondering how it looked if it was done. FYI, as you may know the driver's speaker has very little clearance above the clock/dash frame. The small magnet width makes a difference.

Here are pics of Bob's work with holes. If I'm remembering right the grills are screwed to a round-ish plate that sandwiches the metal and foam between the 2. No holes in the vinyl, the screws are within the roughly 3" diameter hole.

    Mold

It was Wet and Forget. triple the price. Perhaps its more concentrated, i gotta look. Also this stuff is advertised as preventing future mold too. When I ran out I refilled the W&F sprayer with IN-CIDE stuff seemed to work just as well...

Although this group of cleaners is not new I only recently started paying attention to them. Quats are ammonium salt based "disinfectants"/fungicides/mold control. I see most have base name of benzyl ammonium chloride. (as apposed tp sodium hypochlorite = bleach) Below are few links. These are...

    Radio Adapter

I PMd you. If your amp has high level (speaker level inputs) in addition to RCAs you could have extended the OEM radio wires all the way to amp (or use the original rear speaker wires!) and that would eliminate the AMP on switch because amps have a voltage trigger that will turn it on whenever...

    Radio Adapter

I'm trying to understand this setup. Tell me if I'm right. You had 2 mono speakers to power, 1 in front and 1 in the rear. You ran the speaker outputs/wires of the original radio to the amplifier using RCA cables. No line output converters were used...I guess the OEM voltage is under the max for...

    Radio Adapter

I never used one but looks like the redirad is designed to play the radio by default...until you plug in a wired phone/mp3 player and then it automatically plays whatever is plugged in. If you plug in your Bluetooth adapter to the redirad and leave it there, like its designed to be, its likely...

I wonder if you created the silicone mold why couldn't you fill with low temp brazing rod like muggy weld Super Alloy 1 which melt at 350f. Heat gun could do it and is less than silicone melt point. (not sure if mold making silicone is the same)
