Will an electric impact wrench give satisfactory results vs air wrench?

The cordless technology is pretty good today. I still use my air impact at home but we use a DeWalt 20 volt half inch drive at work and it does great. Use caution on really rusted nuts and bolts, you don’t want to round them off. Sometimes a little heat goes a long way.

    New front wheel hub rubbing

Does your Fury have a big block or small block? A/C or not? Trailer hitch? Most 11x 3 brakes IIRC were on big block equipped models and a hitch would indicate towing something that HD brakes would be beneficial. Back then though one could check off any option on the order sheet to get what...

    New front wheel hub rubbing

If your drum measures 11x3.25 that is an 11x3 drum. Most Fury’s came with 11x2.75, the exception being HD front brakes. My Fury has 11x3.

    Trouble getting my drums off

On the front, the hub comes off with the drum. Remove the Cotter pin, the nut, washer & outer bearing. The drum should come off as long as the brake shoes are backed off. The hubs are “swedged” onto the drum. A machine shop should be able to remove the hub & press the new studs in.

    Rear Brake Trouble

Make sure the self adjusters are on the appropriate side. If not, your brake shoes will be adjusting out as you drive.

    Bubb lower ball joint question

Welcome! That is a beautiful wagon you have there. Do your lower ball joints need replaced? The reason I'm asking is that any new replacement you might find is going to be foreign made, and of inferior quality. If you put some fresh grease in the ball joints and then check for free play, you...

    Strut Rods

Stick with the OE style rubber bushings. I know of a few A & B body guys who used the polyurethane bushings and hated them. Took bumps way too hard and negatively affected their steering. I know of a guy who actually broke a strut rod using the poly bushings.

    Brake experiment

Do not do this! Your car will not stop well going forward but better in reverse. The shoe with the smaller area of lining material ALWAYS goes to the front. That is the way the systems were designed. These cars of ours are 4500 lb rolling slabs of USA made steel, you do not want to...
