1970 300 Convertible

I had some requests for photos. You can see that the engine bay just needs some elbow grease and paint. There are still many things to do but it does make a respectable show.

General Information

For those that enjoy decoding build plates, I'll add that. 440-4brl 350 horsepower. With factory 8-track. I bought it used in 1972 for $2,450 from the Pontiac dealers used car lot in Arlington, Texas.

When I saw the car on the used lot, I had to have it. It certainly kicked me up a notch when I was in college. I moved from a '65 Corvair to the 300.

No, not the same Corvair but close. I traded the Corvair in to help buy the 300. The 300 is the car that I purchased in 1972. The 300 is certainly a nicer ride but the Corvair was fun to drive. It was also a convertible. A 1965 Corsa manual. Over the years I kind of regretted giving up the Corvair so last year I bought one. It's not a show car but I'm working toward a nice looking daily driver.

Who restored those interior door panels for you? I need my Newport's done. Or are yours original.

Actually those are the original door panels. They look okay from a distance but upon closer inspection you can see some discoloration. I am waiting for the arrival of some new door panels that I ordered back in May. They had a sale, very rare occurrence, and now are backlogged. I may not get mine delivered until August. The company is smsautofabrics.com and located in Canby, Oregon
