General Information

Finally decided to post some pics of my latest project. 1971 New Yorker purchased 11/15 in NJ. Never posted pictures before because the purists on this site can be pretty rough on projects such as mine, but here it is. The car was stock when I got it. I wanted a muscle car that nobody else had so I made my own. No badges on it, so very few people have guessed what it is. The 300 grill was a must have on my build list along with shaker hood, fat rally wheels, electric exhaust cutouts, and working AC. Swapped the stock open 2.76 rear for a 3.23 sure grip. Engine is a stock 440 aside from shorty headers and K&N air filter. The car is very fun and comfortable on long rides down to the Cape Cod canal. Hope somebody on here will dig it. I like! The roof decal looks like it should be there, well done. Not sure about the front end, the two spots, what are they, daylight run lights, fog lamps, ?? Maybe the valance should taper out to the full width. Over all thought the car looks very sweet.

Hideaway headlight set up didn't come with any brackets or motor, so the fogs are for dusk driving. Eventually I pull over, pop the hood,and manually open the light doors. Was hoping for the AAR cuda look with the fogs, but they are a bit bigger than I wanted. Thanks

I like it allot.. very tastefully done. You are correct though these guys can be hard.. and rightfully so given some of the hack jobs we’ve seen. But I think you’ll find a lot of acceptance in most. I hope. Lol The roof stripe is from A mid 70s roadrunner?

Built in Hollywood, for the upcoming, soon to be Block Buster BURN NOTICE -THE MOVIE . You wanted a Fun, Cool car and now you've got one! I'm sure that even many of the purists quietly think that to themselves, but could never say it aloud...,lest they be shunned. We have to grant them their conviction. But really, man, it looks like you had a blast transforming your Chrysler and the fun continues everyday when you take it out on the road. Good for you! I'd be happy to have that car in my driveway anytime. Tell us about the wheels and tires. What sizes did you eventually wind up using? Are you using the same size all the way around or are the steers and drives different? Did or do you have any clearance issues? Are you thinking about doing anything to get a shine on the car (the white, anyway)? Thanks for sharing!!!

Put 1400 miles on it, this short New England season. I painted it myself in a portable garage, thus the crappy paint job. Planning on leaving it dull and enjoying it. I'm not the show and shine kinda guy. More of a gas it and enjoy kinda guy. The wheels are 15x7 w 225s front and 15x8 w 295s rear. The rear is tight, but doesn't rub and looks beefy. Rides great and I love that the AC works ( though it might need a stonger alternator, seems to strain power when on). Thanks

Very tastefully done. Gives me the impression of a Challenger limousine! I may eventually do something similar with my 1972 Newport, as this model will never be collectable. Don't understand how you got a Shaker hood to fit on this car. Did you splice it in the New Yorker hood someway?

The shaker took some creativity since the mopar engine isn't centered in the engine compartment. A cheap $15 dollar Trans Am scoop, an aluminium parking sign , a K&N style round air cleaner, jigsaw, and patience. I think the lines match better than a mopar shaker would have. It works great and looks cool. Send me a private message if you want pics of the shaker base. Thanks

I love it! The Road Runner style roof stripe looks great on this car! A worthy companion to a 300 Hurst. :)

Thanks, yup 71-72 RR. Massive rear quarter had to be broken up somehow.

That's one cool set up. It all works and from the front it looks like a big angry 70 charger. Nice ride.

Love it!!! Beautiful car....................could probably fit one of those electric cars in the trunk!!!! We had a '73 Fury III growing up...............I loved how big those cars were!!

Thanks, It's been called an El Camino more than once because the trunk is so long.
