Show Ready 1956 Dodge Station Wagon on 270 Poly V8 AT - cars &...
Offered is a lovely 1956 Dodge station wagon. Condition is a 67,000 mile California cherry than was treated to cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning. It is powered by the 270 cid poly engine and is optioned with the Powerflite automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. The only upgrade from factory was a dual brake master cylinder.
The car was a showpiece of a California vintage car dealer. A nice rust free car was painted and upholstered to high standards. We purchased the car years back as it was the same model as the first car my parents purchased new and carried us over many states on vacation.
The 67,000 miles on the odometer is reported to be original.
There were a few repairs required which we addressed. The wiring harness had aged and a new original style harness was manufactured and installed. Extensive under hood detail was done and items like belts, hoses and battery were replaced. Bolt on components as valve covers, manifolds and front cover were removed and painted. A timing chain was replaced while the front cover was removed.
The $24,500 prices reflects about 1/2 of the restoration and vehicle purchase price.
Considering the extreme cost to restore any vintage today at current labor and material rates any "ready to show" vintage vehicle in this price range is a bargain.
