I didn't know you were that young to not know about the 56 Fury.
It's the first Fury. And arguably the coolest. 240 horse power, solid lifter HiPo engine, larger suspension and brakes, front sway bar, H/D rear end 3:91 (?) rear end, etc. Exotic options in 56 on a "passenger" car.
There was an incredibly rare mid year option, sometimes called "The Daytona Package". It was a 2x4 BBL aluminum intake and special cam/lifters/carbs,manual choke etc, bringing the engine up to 270 horse power. Which is really amazing. That brought the car to 135 MPH +.
The Corvette wasn't even close. The Belair Power-Pack wasn't even close. The Pontiac wasn't even close. You'd need a Ferrari or a Dodge D500 to catch up.
Faster than a Corvette in 56! Faster than a 300B in 56,( but shut-down by the Chrysler executives.)
A modified 1956 Fury Did 143 MPH at Daytona,...in 1956? Holy ****
