Hi All, I've been a member since last year, but this is my first post. Yesterday, I got call from a friend who is familiar with B-bodies and E-bodies, but he has a problem with a '64 Newport. He was doing a tune-up for the owner's 361 and he noticed that the accelerator rods were loose. Since I have a '65 Sport Fury, he thought I could solve the problem.
He sent several images and you can see that there is a missing bushing holding the cross rod to the bracket mounted on the front of the bell housing. I explained that my SF is a 727 floor shift and uses cables, so I have never seen this setup. I'm assuming that a bushing and retainer are supposed to hold the cross rod.
I appreciate someone knows about this setup or send me an image.
Thanks,
Tony
