Hello and Thank You for advice. Got car late evening, first observation in live form.
Pictures will follow plus story behind…

Welcome and congratulations!

In the World of Chrysler restorations, especially on C-body cars, interior trim can be unobtainium in nature. Which means, just like the E-body molded plastic door panels before they came into repro, you have to resusitate what you have, if possible, or look for good used items (usually from the "less direct sun" areas of the world) and then re-color them if needed. IF SMS (or similar) might be able to re-do yours, it can become $$$$.

Usually, when you get the existing panels removed from the door (spring wire clips, usually), then you can see how they were built. Usually a flat board for the vertical areas and a rounded item for the top curves and such, stapled/bonded to the flat piece. The flat backer board is available from trim shop vendors, as that's what everybody used back then. Then glued the vinyl to it and attached any chrome trim items. Although thin Masonite might seem like a good alternative, it's not very good for this use.

The watershield might be deteriorated, too, so it will need to be replaced. Chrysler usually used a thick clear/opaque plastic sheet with holes cut for the inner handles and such. Easy to replicate and then use some sections of tape to reattach it (although the factory usually used "strip caulk"/dum-dum for this purpose). MUCH better than the stiff paper which GM used as a "deflector" rather than "shield", by observation.

Please keep us posted on your progress!

Enjoy!

Dear CBODY67,
Thank You for great information concerning the door interior panels. The drivers side is completely missing. The car has been in storage the window slightly open. Water might being ruining the panel.
Are 300 model and New Yorker door panels interchangeable? This could widen the search. The whole interior is in need of redo.
Headliner metal pieces are gone. I do not know right name of them. Those keeps headliner up.
With best regards
Rockford.

The physical size of the doors should be the same for '65 to '68 models, but the trim would be different between the trim levels and years. I suspect that if you might find a good door piece, then the rear seat items might be there too? BUT the main issue might be the inner door handles and armrests, as that all changed in '66, to the '66-'68 style of things. Possibly changing out the complete inner latch handle assy might work? But not sure about that. Perhaps others might have some comments?

Take care,
CBODY67

1965 Newport & 300 door panels should interchange no problem. The trim and emblems are a little different on the 300, but it will fit fine. The New Yorker had a different style of inside door handle, so those panels are different. Everything 1966-up is also different.
