Vehicle Description

1966 Imperial Crown Convertible

One of only 514 Imperial Crown Convertibles built in 1966. The Imperial Convertible was the top of the line coupe model for Chrysler in 1966. This was also the last year for the Imperial’s longer wheelbase platform of 129 inches. It boasted an impressive curb weight of 5,295lbs. It was made be the finest automobile on the market exceeding both Lincoln and Cadillac quality control and luxury standards. It possessed Chrysler’s separate body and frame construction to minimize road noise and bumps in the road. Even special bushings were made in the steering column to minimize the road bumps from being felt by the driver’s hands. As a touch of class and elegance the headlight protectors have two inlayed bands of 24 carat gold.

The front seats contained air foam padding and were advertised by Chrysler as “Executive Aircraft-Type Seats” to give the passengers an extra layer of luxurious comfort. The power front seats allowed the driver and passenger to position the seats to their level of view or comfort. The Claro Walnut interior wood accents are in amazing condition as are the seats.

The convertible top was replaced approximately 5-6 years ago and is in new condition. The original “CertiCard” is still in the holder under the hood. The car’s impressive condition is reflected in the low odometer reading.

This convertible is not only rare, but very original. Looking over the car you can see that it has been well loved. When you start running through the functions of this Imperial, you will be smiling from ear to ear at all of the things that still work as they should. The original A/C even blows cold on a hot day and the 440 Chrysler block still runs strong. The electric top works just as it should and I have yet to find a light throughout the car that doesn't work.
