Nice price, but the no-title-in-a-title-state thing automatically kills it for me.

Were I a buyer, the very first question would be "Why don't you have a title on this?"

agree Patrick but I hope someone pursues it and is able to work out legalities of getting it registered.

Nice project for somebody, a good deal too. Might even be negotiable. The no title issue is really not a big deal in most states. Here in Alabama all that is needed is a BOS. Some stares like to see a past registration also. No title shouldn't be a deal breaker.

In Oklahoma, it absolutely IS, especially if it's coming from a title state. Won't touch one with a 10' pole. And if the seller cant be bothered to get a title, then something's up. I'll pass.

More than likely all that's up is someone lost the title or didn't look for it when the relative passed and current seller or family member that sold it is too lazy to do what's required to get one.

There's lots of ways a title gets misplaced, and lots of ways to get a replacement. One could got to a neighboring state with more lax regulations, obtain a title there and then transfer to your heavily regulated home state.

If the seller is the actual title holder, there is no excuse NOT to have a title available. Texas is such a state. Not worth the effort for an out-of-state buyer, especially in a title state. Someone else's problem.

I bought a 58 Savoy sport coupe in North Carolina that had been handed down through three estates without transfer. At the DMV the seller had to transfer and pay taxes three times before transfering title to me, then I had to pay taxes a fourth time. All in a half hour.
