Howdy Pardners, Can you advise if the US/ Canadian cars have a cable or vacuum operated water heater valve.
My non Aircon Australianised RHD Fury 111 has a cable operated water heater valve which is leaking. I have looked high and lo here in OZ for a spare but it seems they are rarer than rocking horse fertilizer
Any helpful advice?

Pictures say a thousand words.

My 69 Fury III had a vacuum operated heater valve. It had Air Conditioning. The valve was gone . The heat was always on ,hot water always going through the heater core. I could not source a correct heater valve so I installed a manual one.

Yeah, but being from the land of OZ, a picture would help us match up with what might work from the U.S.

I should imagine it'd be the same as the original LHD, only the steering box (unless a chain conversion) column and dash would have been changed.

You could always convert back to LHD as they're legal considering the age of the car.

I have no fricken idea what that last post was. This is the type of valve I used. I don't know the hose diameter of this particular valve I posted. I had to get an adaptor to go from 1/2 inch heater hose to 5/8 as my valve was 5/8ths on both ends. Output of my water pump was 1/2 inch on my 440. Input to heater core was 5/8ths and back to the pump.

If you meant my post, what I explained was that when a vehicle (like our older ones) is converted from LHD to RHD, most of the original components like the heater tap are as the vehicle left the factory in LHD, therefore, if someone has the same vehicle they can say - you can use tap such and such as it was or is a suitable replacement for the assembly line installed component.

Ahh ok ,now I understand sorry. Thanks for explaining this.

Hello everybody,
Thanks your help so far. Firstly my car is an original factory built RHD so even then a Yankee LHD heater valve may have a different configuration??
I have just had a cataract operation, so bit hard to be a contortionist and crawl under the dash to take a cell phone pic .
Will try soon when my focus comes back,
Cheers,
Rich

Here is the manual valve I used and a pic of where it is. Hopefully this is temporary until I can find the correct vacuum operated shutoff valve.

Sorry to hear about you medical condition, one thing we forget is that we are not twenty years old anymore. Chrysler used many types of water valves over the years, the original vacuum ones in 1969 were terrible, hence the upgrades over the years. Send the pictures when you can.

traintech ,I would love to see what others have used as far as a vacuum operated heater valve that looks stock.

Yup I'm familiar with that item and as far as i can remember that is unique to aussie manufacture. Your best bet is to buy an aftermarket manual unit and retro fit it.
Wollfen, on this one I will have to agree with you, because first of all, ALL the water valves I have ever seen have been mounted under the hood, not the dash and look nothing like this one.

Yes the aussie cars had a unique heater box for RHD cars under the dash so it is very different.
