He messaged me back saying somebody offered $6K if he'd hold it for him for 2 weeks.
Then sent another note to me from the seller that said he messaged everyone that showed interest, the car was now for sale for $6K.
Somebody was supposed to come see the car on Monday, but since the CL ad is down, he probably got the $6K he wanted.

Kinda funny that he said he was holding it for 2 weeks, then went down the list of suitors and had a looker on Mon, then ad is gone, then it's back up - all in short order.

The Monday person didn't buy it (or was a no-show), Sixpkrt viewed it and passed on it and hte seller says his $5000 (now $6000) car would sell for $10-14k if he gets it drivable? Seems like somebody's playing some games - the kinda games that make the real players stay home and the low-ballers come out of the woodwork.

Get a car drivable for $4-8k increase in sale price? If you were gonna do that, you'd do that.

So, what was the other car he (the seller) bought?

Hopefully somethign he knew enough about to not break of all 5 lugstuds on a wheel.

EDIT - you just beat me on that one @sixpkrt

i dunno ..... i see $10 big, plus acq. costs, to make it what i want.

glad we got expert eyes on it first.

still a nice car. hope it does well whoever gets it.

FWIW, I can overlook the BS when someone is selling (flippin) a car that I might buy. The more they talk, the more you learn how much they don't know.

My last words on this one. There is NOTHING "wrong" with this car. I am NOT dissing the seller. I still like it.

I wont be the new caretaker.

Markets, overall, sometimes, work pretty good -- when there is enough information -- at matching up peoples' interests with items that align with those interests. All that information exchange usually winds up in a fair deal.

For me, just me speaking for myself only, I don't see the probability to get this deal, at this time, on this car, to line up ..for me.

Many good things going for the car. It is imminently worth saving. I hope that's what eventually happens to it in a fair deal.
