Looking thru the 1970 Car Equipment Prices Book and it has Auxiliary Floodlight with Time Delay. The note under it says available in package only except Headlight Time Delay.

Can someone explain what this means?

Was the floodlight the aux extra light in the grill? If so I have seen many with A01 light group without the extra light in the grill?

What was in the grille was the "SuperLight", or auxiliary "passing beam" light, which could be switched to run off of the normal high-beam foot switch, when the low beams were on.

The "floodlight" was a mini-flood with a beam targeted to the ignition switch. With a time delay switch to automatically turn it off.

In prior years, there could be an opaque plastic piece as an additional piece between the ignition key cylinder and the ign key bezel. Usually illuminated when the park lights were turned on, so you could see the ign key cylinder (in the instrument panel) in the dark.

When the ign cyl was in the steering column, seems like there could be something similar on some cars, but the external "floodlight" won out on Chryslers.

I think the use of 'floodlight' as opposed to the more common use is pretty misleading in that context.
