On Chryslers or across the board? Was the dual exhaust an option on 71 350 hp models

I was referring to Chryslers. There might have been some T code Dodge or Plymouth fleet vehicle that could have had duals, but I am not so familiar with those vehicles (with special order options more likely) that I would never say never. But for regular production models, I would wager that no C bodies with T code engines had duals standard from the factory for 1971 and later. U code 440s certainly did, however.

Detmatt, green huh, did you work for Michigan Bell back in the day?

The theory is: Chrysler bought all the world war II surplus "ugly army green" from the Army and managed to paint otherwise nice cars with ugly army green for more than 30 years! Have they finally run out of it? Please?

My blue 71 was built with factory dual exhaust... Phil paid an extra $35.20 for the extra pipe

Was your blue one a 440 standard T code, or a 383HP (4 bbl)? I wasn't aware you had an option for a second pipe with the T code engine, but it surely wasn't standard on any of those that I am aware of. The 383-4 engine did have them standard I believe.

That could be one of the reasons the T code was down rated from 350 to 335 horse for '71.

My understanding is that the primary reason for the downrating of the T engine was due mainly to a drop in compression ratio, not the exhaust system per se. Except for the Town & Country in 1970, all the other T engines had single exhaust standard for both 1970 and 1971 in the Chrysler line at least.

Yes, a simple T code, dual exhaust and dual snorkel air cleaner

The original sales order spells it out, which is how I know the price

Wasn't 71 not also the year of Change to SAE net HP-Ratings ?

Dave, can you post a picture of that and your fender tag and build sheet for the blue one. That car is an exceptional factory hot rod!

Yes, compression ratio for '70 was 9.7:1, and '71 was 9.5:1. Would drop to 8.2:1 in '72.
