1970 Monaco what is the off set orb on the front grill?

I have been in a fusie mood lately. A '69 300 and '70 Polara have been on my wish list for some time. I have been looking at the Monaco and noticed in a 1970 ad that there is a single off center orb in the front grill. Is this some sort of sensor?

That's the super lite package everybody's been talking about.

I have heard it mentioned but I guess I never knew what the super lite package was. What makes it a super lite? If this has been discussed before just refer to the thread.
