I don't think the hood could be saved.

saved is too strong a word. straighten it enough so that i could see out the windshield, make it so that it would open and close would be the goals.

Too much panel-wide stretching and distortion, and that includes the underside support frame.

that's where cutting a hole for the intake comes in handy. i have two '69 newport hoods, one of which could supply at least part of the support. not that any of this is going to happen. nice to dream.
