The car in the picture served Finland's most famous president UKK (Urho Kaleva Kekkonen) in early 70's. It was extended in Sweden and some special equipment were added then too. It's weight is 3000 kg's (about 6600 lbs). A Finnish collector has own it since 1991.

It has been driven only 74000 kilometers (roughly 46 tmiles).

Naturally the president never drove it himself. Actually, he didn't even have a driver's lisence - well, he ruled from 1956 to 1981, so a lisence wasn't much needed anyway!

He loved the speed though. Sometimes, when the schedule was tight and the police car ahead (4 cylinder cars mostly) couldn't keep up the speed UKK wanted, he ordered the driver to pass it and take the lead. Then the poor escort cars just tried to keep his taillights on sight...

Once UKK's adjutant asked to slow the speed down, closer to normal trafic. Then UKK said: "I order the speed, not you! Behave, or you'll find yourself on the nearest buss stop!" :laughing4:

What a character!

He also had a 1963 New Yorker once, but I couldn't find a picture of that one...

Just wanted to share this.

C bodies of that vintage are very popular in Finland today. If you watch some of their cruise videos you won't believe how many of these cars are over there. I know a bunch of those guys. Honest, hard working guys in general and always a pleasure to help them.

Don't the Swiss have a thing for Cadillacs? Obviously, as everyone knows the Finns are better drivers, so I'm not surprised they prefer their Mopars... I think some kind of extra-large car grudge match may be in order :3gears:

Very true! For some reason fuselage mopars have always been close to our hearts. I know, I lost mine a quarter century ago and haven't got it back ever since!

LOL, that would be a day...

I finally found a picture of that earlier Chrysler limousine and the original photographer gave his permission to show the pic here.

So here it is. The shot was taken by K.Heimo in Halikko, Finland and the date was 8-25-1963.

The Finnish Defence Forces owns the car now. I guess they use it only in parades or so.

What a great car, I wish I would know more of it!
