Why do they always say, "RAN WHEN PARKED SIX YEARS AGO"?

It rates up there with "Will run all day at 70 MPH" for me. Really? A car built in the '70s, or even the '60s, that can run at 70 MPH? Why is that such a measure? My '62 New Yorker hit 110 before I backed off the pedal. So??? They were designed to do that.
