Thank you for posting about PM41K2D107256 — wonder if the car has been repainted. Nice washer bottle.

We've seen this one before it's been on Craigslist several times, I don't know if this is the same guy as the pictures look different. I think the final verdict was that it was never a real squad and I think this is the first that we have heard that all the trim & vinyl have been removed.
Being a stripped PH car this would be a Fury III right?
Me thinks the story has been stretched on this one too someone started a clone car and....??? Need to see the build sheet on this one.

I'll see if there is any chatter over on FB about it in many of the cop car groups.

.

Welp went over to facebork and saw it posted by a member (not owner) in the Vintage Police Car Classifieds public group but there were no comments about it there, the other police car group I belong too covers all makes & models but it's tedious sifting through all the parts posts and even thou the group is listed as vintage 'Car' not parts I guess cop car Charger wheels & tires are vintage now eh? But nothing there and I scrolled back to February. IIRC I use to belong to a Fury cop car group but I think it just disappeared like 'poof' it was gone, probably bailed for somewhere else to make a political statement. Anybody check BarnFinds or BaT lateley?

The ad mentions dual exhaust and police suspension. In the seller's text answer that becomes "civilian car with a police package special order". A dual exhaust on a 360, did they have that option in 1972?

Like @68PK21 440.6bbl says, the broadcast sheet will decide. Codes N41 and S16 should be included.

The 360 didn't get a four-barrel until 1974 (to replace the 340). The "K" engine designation also denotes a two-barrel 360; however, they did offer the 360 as part of a police package at this time. I doubt any two-barrels had factory dual exhaust.

OK a little more messing about on this one. I searched this forum for a previous post on this one and could only find one other post from January of this year here:
NOT MINE - 1972 Fury III sedan in VA, possible police car? Not mine
Then I got lost in reading about a nice 1972 'FrankenFury' and didn't go back through the search results so I may have missed a old CL post.

I'm sure I saw this car on Craigslist a couple of times in the past year but I'm not really a fan of 72 Fury's (front end) and I looked through my CL saved postings and found nothing but I did save the images of the car and they are dated Wednesday, ‎October ‎14, ‎2020 and I think this date/posting was the second time I saw the CL AD. The 2020 pic backgrounds appear to be the same area as the FB AD so I'd say it's the same seller.
I banged out the fender tag on a decoder and only discrepancy I can see is the N38 code which came up as "Unknown At This Time". Change that to A38 and we have the 'Police Package'. A mis-stamped tag? Could be as the N38 follows the M85 Bumper Guard Package. ???? only the build sheet will tell.

Also K in K2D comes up as Unknown. Anyone?

Back when I worked at MODoT in the early/mid 70s the Highway Patrol was running Gran Furys with 440s and all the cop goodies. The MODoT area supervisors also used Gran Furys with the cop goodies minus the cop tires and 440s. They had the suspension and HD cooling along with the spotlights.
Engines were 360 2 bbl with single exhaust. They put a lot of miles and idling time on these cars in a short time, hence the severe duty/cop package.

Thanks for the full tag! Change N38 to N88 and you get Auto Speed Control.

OK your probably right as I enlarged it again and compared the what I thought was a 3 to the other 3 in L31 and now I'm more in the it's a 8 so that what's it could be then. I did come across a E body tag decoder that listed a very long list of the 3 codes and spotted:
F95 Certified Speedometer
F96 Oil Pressure Gauge
and wondered if these would pertain to this C-Body. I have a feeling someone started a clone car and the story evolved (stretched) over the years when it changed hands. It's a shame because if it was kept original as a Fury III with vinyl and some kind of A38 car that would make it more unique IMO.

Where's that documentation that Delaware fender tags were riveted on. I read the other thread...omg many of you need some help. Car looks legit, give it a rest, go inspect and report.

You need to respect the people that know and study instead of always shitting on everyone.

I'm curious.
1. Could a civilian order just any Gran Fury with a cop package.
2. If so, would it have come with a Certified Speedometer.

I don't look at this car as, "It has to be this," or, "It has to be that."
I look at it as, It is what it is. And I like it except for the SB.

However the value is in understanding what it is. If it has been messed with then you aren't spending 9 Gs. If it is all original stuff then you may.

F95 Certified Speedometer
F96 Oil Pressure Gauge
Were that options you could check on a 1972 Plymouth Fury Order Sheet?

I didn't intend to cast doubt on the original set-up including police items with this question. I'm trying to understand what triggers a generic "Special Order" tag. If there are no labeled boxes on the order sheet for requested options such as these, wouldn't that make it a special order?
