I recently picked up this 1973 Chrysler Newport Navajo Edition. Decided to list it for sale to see if anyone wanted to restore it or use it for parts. I had originally thought about restoring it but decided I have too many projects already!
Car has a decent amount of options.
400 big block (2bbl)
PS, PB (disc), A/C, rear defrost, remote mirror, low fuel light, etc. (Check out the window sticker photo.)
The car was last on the road in 1992 and parked in a shed. I got the car running off a bottle and it runs very well. No smoke or noises. Idles smooth and the transmission goes right into gear. It goes forward and backward but I haven’t driven it at any speed or distance due to no brakes. Has the original 1973 date code orange MoPar sparkplug wires. Odometer reads 48,004 miles. Seems to be original.
The majority of the body is solid but the rear quarter lowers and doglegs are toast. The original owner screwed tin to the quarters as a “fix” for the rust. The floors appear to be good as well as the fenders. The paint is original with hand painted orange pinstripe but the passenger front fender has been painted at some point with a vinyl pinstripe added. Paint is presentable but up close you can see surface rust spots in places. Original white vinyl top is in great shape and the roof doesn’t show any signs of rust underneath. Front bumper has rust holes in it.
The interior is nearly perfect. The driver side head rest and armrest has splits but everything else is nice. Only needing some cleaning. The orange shag carpet is definitely cool! Dashpad is nice with no cracks.
Clean the fuel tank and do the brakes and you could probably be drivin it as is. Patch the quarters and give it a paintjob and you would have a pretty decent car!
Has a lot of old paperwork with it including the window sticker. Two sets of original keys.
Car is located in Hickory, NC.
I will have a title for it once it comes in the mail.
Price is $2500 or possible trade.
