It's really just the crank bushing that I need. I'm having trouble finding one as the ones on eBay for example don't look like what I require.

I found the 3 smaller bushings, is this what I need for the crank bushing?

cheers
Is this the 1978 Formal transmission? IDK as I have not personally fooled with one before... the smaller bushings are available, the 1978's are not.

The best resource is to search everything 1978NYB has ever posted on this subject. He has found at least one workaround and has proposed another using those now available replacements and a Cordoba bellcrank.

I suppose retrofitting the whole mess with an earlier transmission would work too, but Combat Bob is the resident expert on that issue.

Don't over complicate things, Jeff.
His car is a '77. Leave it at that. STOP. :stop:
74-77 bushings available at all the part stores.
You're confusing the lad...

Where did you find the large one

You can still get the small wiper bushing from Mopar dealers. Ask for a 96 Dodge Ram Van wiper transmission bushing. They are the same as the 74-77 Formal small cam/wiper transmission bushing and fit and last a hell of a lot longer than the Help bushings in the universal bushing packs they have at AAP and AZ.

What do those large bushings look like to you, Bob?
'78 C or R/M bodies.

So it seems nobody sells the wiper crank large bushing for a 77 Newport. Looks like I may have to try finding something that will work.

cheers

The 74-77 wiper cam bushing should be the small one marked by Stan in the previous picture.

Does yours look like this? If it does it is a 78. There are part numbers on them. You may need a magnifying glass to see them. What are the part numbers?

Yes that looks like it, so my 77 has 78 bushings apparently. They are pretty destroyed I don't think I can get numbers from them.

YOU ARE NOT LISTENING. :BangHead:
I'm outta here.
Bob, you have more patience, you talk to him.

lol, You understand my confusion considering my situation.

cheers

Well you have 2 choices. Convert yours to 74-77 small cam. You'll need to get some donor parts and do some welding. Then the small cam/wiper bushing will work. You'll have to cut and weld the other small end to the linkage rod that connects to the bell crank.

The other option (and I haven't tried it) that I heard about on the Facebook C-body site said you can use the bell crank from a 79 Cordoba and then the orange wiper cam assembly from EBay will work.

Again....I have never tried that approach.
