318 poly to a 383

why trans it has a 727 factory now
Poly 318 same bolt pattern as small block Mopar.

Short list.
Trans

Upper motor mount. Isolator is the same.

Have to get water pump housing that exits same side as the radiator lower, but the diameter may be different. There is a spring hose that has both sizes though. Or swap the radiator.

Exhaust (obviously)

You might have to mess around with the carb linkage, figuring that poly is a 2 barrel and you'll probably want to put a 4 barrel on the 383.

I think that's really about it. IIRC, the Poly is 50-75 lbs lighter than the 383, so I'd say you wouldn't have to screw with replacing the torsion bars.

Gonna use that 383 from the Newport??

I was thinking that. looks like too many headaches. might just rebuild the poly. would be happy just getting 30-40 more horsepower over stock.
The poly motor is a pretty decent piece. Do some research on them and I think they can be made into good runners.

Bottom end is mostly the same as a LA 318.

problem with the poly you need headers because of the bad factory exhaust manifolds and then trying to find a 4 barrel intake. what engine would be an easy swap 318 LA-340-360 ? will they bolt up to the trans ?

Any of those would work.

360 would be a good choice.

Where do you find a converter that will fit a 62-66 727 with balance weights for a cast crank 360? Have to weld weights on or if they sell a flexplate for that with a big chunk cut out ofmit.

Just swap the stater support in the front pump to the '67 up, and it will fit a newer converter.
I do this to every '66 I work on
Yes and the input shaft. Basically trans comes out of the car and on the bench and taken apart.

Might just as well swap to a BB in the big car.

Hi Fellas,
Anyone Done a 440 Source Stroker in a Saw Tooth 318.
Maybe a Bit Simpler in the Long Run.
Might be One Solution, Depending on the Cost ?
No Experience at This Sort of Thing, Just a Thought.
