How do you tell if a 340 crank is Cast Iron or Steel?

The parting line that is created from the "molding" on a Cast crank is about 1/16 inch wide where as the Steel crank has about a 5/8 inch wide pattern.

This is a 440 but shows the difference between the 2 types.

You can also tap it with a tool on the parting line or some where else that is not a bearing surface. The steel crank will ring.
