Hi guys! New to classic Mopar here. I got this 1964 New Yorker from a local guy and it has a 440 in it, I have no other information on it. It was an impulse $1000 purchase. I'm looking for some feedback on the setup of the engine bay. I've been searching and can't find anything about a New Yorker with a 440 in it for ideas, obviously not a common thing. My main issue right now is getting the carb hooked up (the throttle linkage doesn't seem to work out no matter what bracket or bolt I get). I just wanted to see if y'all had any general feedback I guess on what's going on here and how I could clean up this engine bay. Mind you intake manifold and new carb were installed after i bought it. I will attach before pictures as well. I'd like to get this thing running and driving for the dream cruise in august!

Lots of potential there. I would suggest you put your air cleaner on and see if it clears your hood when it's closed, do this very slowly at to not damage the hood. As for your throttle linkage and kick down you will have to go with a cable setup as the intake is much to high for the factory setup to work properly.

That was the first thing I did after installing the new carb actually, it barely clears, but hood latches just fine and no running!

Is this like a general throttle cable? Or are there specific ones for 440s and or c bodies? I'm new to this whole big block thing so I feel extremely stupid asking these questions haha

Look up a NY with a 413 to get your layout. The 440 wasn't available until 66. Externally, they look the same.
I had looked at 413s, but given my different intake and carb setup, it didn't help me at all. There's not much clearance at the front of the engine bay so I'm rebuilding the radiator, have the ac delete pulleys and new belts, I also got a new smaller "modern" alternator.

Something like that should work for you. Sorry about just using a screenshot of it

Be sure to do some in depth research on the cables to make sure there exactly what you need and if you can find some one with experience in Mopars to help set the kick down for you because if not set properly you can damage your transmission in a hurry.

Don't ever feel stupid for asking a question you do not know the answer to. That's what forums like this one are all about.

As someone has already said, the 440 was introduced in '66, but externally it's identical to the 413, although the 413 used a Carter carb with a smaller mouth than an Eddy.

Also, technically speaking, a '64 is not a C Body. That started in '65.
