'64 Imperial Convertible - Record price?

Do you think the day will ever come that Hemmings stops calling cars like these a "Chrysler Imperial" when they are an "Imperial Crown"?
No, people are set in their ways, unwilling to learn the basics.

Should these rare relics of 60's car colletor's history sell for that price?
I say dam yes!
But realistically, if he gets 50, he's doing great.
He probably has 50 k in restoration if he had someone else doing the work.
Unrestored original driver's car go for a solid 20k nowadays.
Hey, you own an Imperial!!!
That's got to be worth at least 15 to say that nowadays.
Problem is, ( and always was ), these fine American luxury cars of the 60's were understood and unappreciated. They probably always will be.
But, I believe, when all you can purchase new is an electronic vehicle, the IMPERIAL will become the shining example of American gluttony and prestige.

We’ll, I could sure go for a big ol’ Nasty Imperial, cruising down I-65 at 80, 90 or a hundo…

Wonder if it’ll get better gas mileage than my ‘65 Sport Fury??
I’m getting nearly 6.5 mpg at last check. Nuthin like a Mopar big block!

And it’s worth every nickel…

A really nice '64 Imperial ragtop went for $35K over on BaT.
