65 Fury III update

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. I have a feeling there were only three different stub-frames from 1965-1971; All the C's are the same up to '69, then in 1970 all but the convertibles and the station wagons used rubber isolators, so the frame was altered; Imperial had it's own design. If I'm right the two outside mounting bolts towards the rear should measure 55 3/4 inches apart, and 67 inches from the radiator support mount to the rear mount.

Both measurements would be great! One measurement from where the radiator support bolts up, on the top of the frame in the front, to the rear most mounting bolt through the floor alongside the rocker, and the other measurement between the rear most mounting bolts that attach through the floor to the top if the frame. Thanks!

I remember something about the 65-67(?) Fury only stubs being 2" shorter although all the mounting points were identical.

Fury WB: 119.0"
Polara, etc WB: 121"

I'm im hoping a measurement of the frame itself will prove that. Wheelbase could also be an effect of placement on the unibody.

I have to assume that everything mounted in the 2" shorter Fury stub frame is set further back 2". This is just a guess!!
Accurate exhaust bent me up a set of duals that were perfect except the exhaust pipes from the manifold to the muffler were exactly 2"too long. When I talked to Accurate about it he said he bent them to the Dodge/Chrysler specs. I had to take out 2" sections in the pipes to fit 100% perfectly.
Your mileage may vary....

Just checked and the stubs for 68-69 Plymouth has a different part number than the Dodge-Chrysler, but then again part numbers are not all that reliable. I need to rely on science, and my own two eyes!:icon_cyclops_ani:

P/N's mean nothing to me. If the factory so much as add one tiny hole, they HAVE to assign it a new P/N.
I bet GM wished they had with their ignitions........

Hey Samplingman, sorry it's taken so long to get those maesurements but we've been having crazy T-storms just about every day now.As for the measurements, this is what I got : The one from the Radiator support bolt to the mounting hole that goes down thru the floor pan seems to be 68" , the measurement between the two bolt holes that goes down between the floorpan is 55 1/2" center to center hole , and lastly the two lower outside frame holes that run horizontally next to the rocker panels measure 58 1/4" center to center . This measurement is taken from a 67 Nyer 2 dr Fastop with 124" wheelbase. Hope this helps out. If it's a frame interchange let me know what your looking for and I can see if there is a listing in my Mitchell parts interchange book. They do list most parts except trim pieces but for some reason it omits certain years/models of cars every now and then.I guess it was covered in a supplement later on.My book covers most stuff from 65-85 cars.

That is exactly what I was looking for and those measurements are spot on with my 70 vert frame. Thank you!

Mark,

It was great to meet you and your wife this last weekend! Thanks so much and sorry we couldn't hang around longer. We ended up driving to Pike's Peak that same night instead of camping there. You are really making some good progress on the car and its looking great! Can't wait to see how the rest of the build goes.
