Hey all, I’m looking to see if anybody has dimensions(thickness and diameter) of the mirror glass for a 66 twin post mirror(2299525). I believe it is a 4” diameter but just unsure of the thickness to have a nice fit.

I'm thinking there might be some universal replacement mirror glasses available at some auto supply stores, in that diameter? Might even be convex, for a wider-angle view? With adhesive on the back to secure it. Of course, the old mirror would need to be destroyed to remove the glass before adding the new glass to it.

Just a thought,

I had a small accident the other night and my mirror glass was smashed out. I’m not sure what else came out with the class but I noticed an internal snap ring around the edge of the housing. I have seen convex lenses— it may be worth the extra few bucks. Thank you!

Flat glass, held in with a very thin and hard to notice snap ring. I believe there's a spring underneath the glass. Glass diameter is the inner edge of the mirror housing, less 1/16th of an inch.

Depress the glass, remove the snap ring and the glass comes out, Reverse the process to install. I don't know the thickness, but it's pretty much standard automotive mirror glass, so any auto glass shop should be able to deal with it. There was not a convex option for those mirrors.

In theory, convex mirrors on the lh side are allegedly illegal, as I understand it. RH side is fine, though.

Agree, no convex option back then. Just mentioned that as a possible "easy way" out.

Nice to know how to get the glass out!
