Hey guys.
I recently bought a one owner '68 300 with front drums. (welcome wagon "new sled") The car was a special factory order, and the original owner opted out of disc brakes. The drums look pretty big and do stop the car reasonably well. I might be towing a 3000 boat/trailer with surge brakes long distance in the future, and have been considering a front disc brake conversion.
Back in '67, my dad had a '66 Plymouth Fury II wagon with the 440 engine. I can still smell the vinyl seats! The car would fly and he drove it hard on the 2 lane roads, flooring it and passing the crap out of everybody at 90mph +. He was always a bit scared of it because the drum brakes were too weak to stop the car. Here's a question for you C body fans - Does my '68 have the same drums?
Interesting, in '68 he special ordered a Pontiac wagon with new fangled disc brakes and 428 engine. He was more comfortable hot rodding that car. He said the Plymouth was lighter and quicker, but the Pontiac was hotter at higher speeds.
Thanks!
