From the boss man

It really is this simple...

If you see a car that is somehow special... ie a great price, or very hard to find condition, or whatever... Fine. Post it. But also post all the information with it. Dont just post a photo and a link.. Post all the other info also. But really, you shouldnt be posting all that many. One now and then is fine. But too many and we have a mess.

Those ads with just a link and a little bit of text can actually HURT the site in the eyes of Google and other search engines. PLus, those ads are only good for a short period of time befrore the link is no good. That means, in a month, someone will come across that ad, click the link and go nowhere. Wow, what great content to have!

I for one am usually happy to see these ad posted. One of them posted here led me to my 69 300.
I agree they should be posted in the "for sale" thread only if pertaining to the sites members interests and with some restraint. Contacts a must.....!

I agree. I like them too, but as Joey said, a little more permanent info is beneficial.

I respect Joeys wish and won't post any craigslist ads anymore. Even though I was happy to see them from others, too because all the search enignes have different difficulties and you miss some ads once in a while

I was the biggest offender of that. I didn't know. I was trying to keep it clean and simple thinking it was the proper way.
I never posted a For Sale without one pic from the ad, though. My thinking was one pic was a thousand words.
Now that there's an official proclamation from the top, I'm a new man.

I posted a lot of ads too. Seemed like everyone on the board enjoyed it. I found so many parts on this board for my NYB that I could of built another one.

I would never found the pristine rust free grills, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, and the rest of the entire chrome on that red NYB that was posted in an ad posted by newmexguy in El Paso.

I wouldn't of found that blue leather wrapped steering wheel w/o the ad posted by Mr. C

I wouldn't of found the new NOS carpet w/o the ad posted by Stan.

I wouldn't of found the door panels, leather seats, and numerous other NYB parts posted by Mike.

I'm forgetting /leaving out a ton of other people who instrumental in my NYB restoration journey..........dementia setting in. LOL!

All of these led me to this site..........which resulted in great camaraderie and friendship!!!!

Anyways,

I too had no idea that the ads were not desirable.

For the most part the ad's are desired, And for the reasons you stated. The system was abused by a couple of contributors and so we now have a set of rules...... Although I don't think the rules call for total cease & desist on posting future ad's.

We are pretty good at policing outselves here and posting with descression, I believe, should be allowed. I enjoy most of the posts even if it is not something I can respond to. Just keep it senseable.

as usually nobody are talking anything about what this posting was about

but very interesting views you have on something that seemed to be the biggest problem for you all, ads
Start your own forum. This place is what it is and will stay that way.
You're not going to change anything here one iota by demeaning and rediculing in every post you make.
You have never once been constructive or supportive. You have contributed nothing. Ever. So, STFU.
