I like the looks of this one, without the vinyl top it gives it a clean look. I tried to contact him to find out if the 440 that he has was from this car, 5 days ago, but he hasn't replied. So without the engine- trans it's a little over priced, unless someone would have a 440/ trans laying around to drop in image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

This one has been around on and off for something like a year.

Oops I didn't know that, didn't remember seeing it listed here before. Still curious about the 440 that he has for it tho. The stainless trim down the body line really sets it off IMO

Interesting write-up.

"The wiring under the hood was disconnected so precisely when the engine was removed" ...well, that's the better alternative than going in head first with a pair of dikes.

"The interior is GOLD for money" ...It looks to be in good shape, but then again it's a poor picture. I don't usually think of money when I see a gold interior, but hey, whatever gets you up, I guess.

Yah I think he is saying he has the 440 for extra dollars so you are buying a rolling shell.

I e-mailed the vendor. He put up the ad for his brother. I called him then. He told me he got the car as it is - as a rolling shell without an engine or tranny, but with the front end done - some five years ago when he traded in his 300G. Found out the New Yorker was too nice to scrap, so he planned on putting a Hemi in it, but wasn't sure if it would fit. He then bought a '67 Imperial engine and tranny but never fount time to put them in. So the car has been sitting in his garage in Minneapolis ever since. Now he's close to retiring, and has decided to sell all his Mopar stuff. He also has a very nice '67 New Yorker 4d HT, gold w black roof, and a '69 Dodge D-100 truck, as well as a '69 440 engine. At least those.

He sent me some 35 photos. Here's the first batch:

Overall, it is very much like the car I want. VERY MUCH. I noted the overspray too, but couldn't decide how bad it was. There seems to be rust seeping through at the front fenders. The rear suspension seems to be deep in rust, so I conclude it's an original Minnesota car. I wonder how the front end stub frame looks like, or what happens when you try to lift it up from under the stub frame rails. Will it give in?

Anyhow, the original interior is flawless. It must be a very low mailige car. Even the driver's seat plaitings are almost complete - only slight deformation there - which to me say this is a 50 to 60 thousand mile car, at most.

Its only the cost of putting a new engine in it that kept me from stealing this baby away. I asked for a quote from a nearby Mopar shop. They want 3000 bucks to put the engine in, not including the engine, and tuning it up, plus doing the brakes. All in all, it would have taken me some 17 000 USD before this baby had been on the road. Add to that some 5000 USD to get it here, you end up at some 22 grand. I cross checked the cost estimate many times. It's valid. Whew!

I was an inch close to buying it anyway. But the I added up the cost of probable rust repairs, bare metal overspay, and very probable rear suspension overhaul. An I threw the towel in. Its all yours! Go grab it!

With all those disconnected vacuum lines under the hood, I would guess it also has Auto Temp 1 - its last year. If so, you dodged a surefire bullet. It would never work.

THAT bad boy is sweet. If I didn't have one already that be perfect, I'd drop a bb in there so fast and be on my way auto temp or no. Roll the windows down.

Yeah. I'm still waiting for a miracle to happen. Somebody drop a driveline, and the rest of the missing parts into it, and offer it for sale again. Say, even for close to double he's asking. I'd be there in a matter of minutes.

Seems almost too good to be true. And that interior....nice. I would buy it and store it until I came across a decent big block motor for it.

Indeed. My problem is I don't have a place to store a project. I need a complete car, that moves with its own engine. Besides, my wife would never approve another project car. And she is always right, of course. She wouldn't be my wife if she wasn't.

- If I presented her a nice, gleaming classic, it'd be a different situation altogether. She would love it.

So I need a complete car. With nice paint job, and good interior. This one ticks only one of those three boxes.
