727 transmission question

If a 1970 Fury with a 318 came with a 727, would the 727 be a direct replacement for a 1970 Fury with a 383 that came with a 727? Thx.

Big block is different bellhousing.

Can i use the bellhousing from the 383 car or is the bellhousing actually part of the transmission itself?

Big block also has an 11' convertor, Your 318 transmission won't accommodate anything bigger that a 10" due to the smaller housing. The small block 727 and big block 727 have different cases, there is no seperate bellhousing.

If you are planning to do an engine swap into a 318 car, the big block should also be run with the 8.75 rear end and the heavier drive line or you will probably break something.

Not doing a motor swap. I have a 383/727 but tranny might be bad. Parts car has a 318 and maybe a 727.
