77 New Yorker - what is the little metal electrical component near the brake booster?

I did some looking in the service manual but couldn't find it. It has a thick wire coming from the battery(+) and a couple other wires going to it. One terminal is labeled as EGR and another I think has an "I" by it.

If the item looks like the following image, it is your starter relay:

That's it, thanks. I guess it serves more purposes than just a starter relay by the looks of it though. I'll read up on it.

This relay was new for 1977. It still contains the terminals of the previous starter relay with an added terminal for the Ignition Start circuit feed, instead of using the ignition switch directly, and a terminal for the start signal to the EGR/IES delay timer (if used). Internally, dual contacts are used to perform the previous starter function and the new Ignition Start circuit feed.
