A frame shields

What is the correct position for A frame shields on 69 300?
I put them on from wheel side and didn't seem right with bulk over A frame.
I put them on engine side and had to push them thru on top of A arm and tire hits on sharp turns.

EVERYTHING attaches and is positioned from the underhood side of things. Nothing sticks anywhere close to touching the tires. That is with the correct OEM production shields.
