Probably your typical flipper....it's not even off the trailer yet.....Yes it's been on Craigslist off and on for at least a year now

They are rare. It's just the same half dozen dogs popping up over and over on the net. People buy them and then find out what it costs to restore them, or the flippers get a hold of them and think they are going to get rich. How many restored versions do you ever see for sale?

No actual production #s that we know of on console car but of the 485+1 produced 10-1 ratio has been bounced around for column shift over console shift carz on the 140-150 Hurst's that are still recorded out there. Pretty neat to have a C-body with the shift stick coming out of the floor even if it is a 727

1 in 500ish isn't sorta rare? There isn't 500 of these things floating around for sale. I'm just asking, not stating they are like hens teeth. I have only seem a handful in person in various conditions. I've only seen 1 #1 car ever. Totally restored and it looked like it just came from the factory, but that was close to a decade ago.

He didn't say 1 of 500. I think he's saying less than 50. Hell, I've seen a dozen console cars in my 35 years of looking.

Hurst were rare cars when new back in the day.

Ironically they seem to be one of the most surviving cars from all full size cars.
They were so "special" that nearly none got thrown away or smashed in demo derbys. Even the lesser condition cars seemed to have ended up in some kind of barns.

Despite that many original owners took care of them and did let them retire when they got older.

So the surviving rate is extremly high with a few perfect examples, a huge band of driver cars (#3) and some projects.
It is (if you don't want a perfect car) one of the most easy to find models.

Think the whole story is similar with today modern cars.
How many Challenger SRT get beat into the ground? How many do survive as low mileage cars? A lot of them.

When I question the rarity of these cars it is in relative terms. For example I'll pick one of my favorites, hmm let's see...ok the '67 Imperial coupe. They made over 6 times the number of these over the Hurst cars yet within the confines of this site I would say that I see more Hurst cars than than '67 coupes. I think the same can be said for most of my favorites so do I like the Hurst cars? What's not to like?? Do I consider them rare? Not really.
