Hello All -

I'm Brian, and I've been a member for over a year on the FCBO forum. I rarely post because I am one of those Bluesmobile guys that everyone loves to hate :)

But because of owning a Bluesmobile, I was introduced to a car that is really fun to drive in addition to it's outside appearance. But there are times I would like to drive my car without drawing the attention a Bluesmobile brings, so I decided to pursue finding another Monaco that couldn't be turned into a Bluesmobile ;)

Meet my 1974 Monaco Brougham hardtop coupe, who I affectionately named Son of a Bluesmobile. 57k original miles 400/2bbl combo, other than air it's pretty low on the options.

Although the mileage is low, the years have not been kind due to being left out in the elements for a long time. The vinyl top disintegrated and allowed water to get in through Ma Mopar's poor seam jobs.

I haven't exactly decided what I am going to do with it yet, but it will be stored in doors out of the elements until that time comes, hopefully slowing down the decay.

Thanks for being a great group, I really enjoy reading all of your posts.

Brian.

Passenger side unfortunately took the brunt of water.

You love one 74 Monaco, you love them all. Welcome to the madness, officially!

Nice car, I'd love to see pics of your Bluesmobile. There are other Bluesmobiles on here.

Purest like me hate to see any modifications but that's because of my OCD disability, I love all C's though.

You get double thumbs up shooter65! Here's a recent picture from the old Maxwell Street in Chicago, which has been gentrified since the movie was made.

She is neither a '74 or a true police car. She started life as a '76 base Royal. Fenders are stock '76 items, I built fiberglass endcaps to mimic the '74 fender. Header and upper grille are '74 pieces, lower grille is a '75 piece painted to look like a '74 and the bumper is the '76 unit with the grille opening widened a bit for the parking lights/turn signals and the bumperettes moved inward.

That was a mouthful!

Pretty mean looking. I like it.

Thank you Oliver! She's a blast to drive, especially living in Chicago. Everything is reversible with with exception of the dash pad. The interior was de-Royal'ed, police spec door cards, rim blow wheel added. Seats are in really good shape, so I've left them be for the time being. It should have a flat back bench, but I prefer having an arm rest.

I made a radio delete plate out of plastic and put in some buttons and toggles to replicate a real police car, but there is a modern Kenwood behind the place, it's hinged and flips down.

Thanks John. The Bluesmobile was a total labor of love. Both for the car and what it represented to me. I have a website out there that documented the build and one of the things that sticks out to this day was that it was a lot of work to make a car look like a POS, but make sure it was 100% solid underneath.
