AMC Pacer History

I'm developing an unhealthy obsession with wheel domes and where all the obscure places they showed up.

If I remember correctly the AMC Pacer was originally designed to accommodate a Wankel engine which of course never happened.

My Parents bought a 76 Pacer new. Bright red with a black & white interior. I was there when my Dad drove it off the lot. Mom always loved the car. Gas mileage was a sore spot. AMC claimed something far off from reality. I don't remember what, but that part was a disappointment. I remember the Gremlin Levi edition on the lot as well. 304 v8. Later on in the Pacer production the 304 was available, which should have been a nice upgrade over the 258 6cyl. I still have the workshop and owners manual & brochure from it. I can remember vacations to the beach in the Pacer. Neat time.
