The internet based decoder tools are mediocre at best especially for '68 and older tags. There really isn't an accurate one. The best thing to do is post a pic of the tag and let some of the best tag readers on the planet decipher it.

I have already decoded my '66 by using the internet, but I would like to see if I (the website decoder) was right or wrong. The website also left out a lot of info that I would like to know.

Did you locate a build sheet for this car yet? Mine was in the rear seat back, not in the seat cushion.

No, not yet. I did a little looking. The entire car is coming apart shortly, so we'll see.

On my CHP car I found what was left of one under the package tray, only an inch or so was under the tray and the rest was gone.

I do have one that was in the seat, not sure what seat as it was already out when I got the car. The seats in my car were from a different car, the previous owner had the foresight to save the sheet when he swapped seats.

Let's save some time...what did the site say and what did it leave out? That will be quicker.

I mainly wanted to know if all the info was correct, and anything interesting that the website may have left left out, such as the tires and wheels (is that even listed?). I am not entirely sure what all is put on the fender tag, (I figured it was more than the website told me), so I can't really say what was left off. If it didn't leave anything off, that would be awesome to. Thanks for your help guys.

It is pretty close.
Tires are not listed on a '66 tag.
What was coded, when it was coded and even where it was coded on the tag can vary between plants and time of year. What was coded at the first of the year may not have been coded at the end of the year and vice versa.

On line decoders can get you close but because they have to be all things to all people, they cannot account for nuances between plants. The Hamtramck plant may have coded things a little differently than Jefferson which was different from Newark which was different than LA.
