Barn Find! 2 1966 Newport’s and a New Yorker

After replacing the ignition parts the car started and ran for about 30 seconds! Fuel pump is working but the carb is shot. Massive fuel leaks from all over the carb. Need to take it off and rebuild it. Also took a couple pics of the interior after cleaning the mold and dirt off the seats. All the interior dome lights are working too!

Now you have to get the body and engine compartment as clean as the interior.

Haha! That's going to take a lot of time and effort! I'm just excited to cruise it around my home town and enjoy it with my wife and two little boys.

HELL of a BARGAIN! I'm green w envy. My 66 Newport is the last of the kind down here. Good to see SOME parts of the country still have folk w taste.

Great to see it alive! Nothing wrong with the outside, open the doors and impress folks with that interior, it looks fantastic. Fix that carb and drive those new wheels off of it!

Carb has been removed for a rebuild. Pulled all the wheels and tires off. I’m going to have the wheels cleaned and powder coated. Think I am going to run a set of chrome spider caps on the freshly powder coated wheels and save my hubcaps. Will a set of dog dish caps fit on these factory 14’s?

I have a 1966 Newport 4 door also that was a barn find. It was sitting for 30+ years. I have the small hub caps on it that came with it. I also bought new white wall tires. i went through all the stuff that you have to go through to get it running again. It is now on the road after a year and runs great! Just needs a ball joint for now.
I rebuilt the carb, changed all the hoses and belts, new battery, new master cylinder and all 4 wheels cylinders, brake hardware and shoes. I also had to replace rusted out freeze plugs and have the original radiator re-cored. Gave it a tune up also with new wires. The fuel pump went out after a week, so I replaced that and the filter. The fuel hose to the fuel pump was rotted out also. Then I detailed it inside and out. Had to change the radio speaker also. One other thing, if your dash lights or gauges stop working like mine did, it is because the socket pins on back of the gauge circuit board meed to be repaired and resoldered. The last picture shows the headlight switch out because the dash light dimmer was corroded and I had to clean and lube it. Wish I had a before picture with the layer of 30 years of dirt on it! One other thing I want to do is repaint the wheels because the paint is half rust, they are body colored also.

That turned out really nice! I like the light blue! These cars are so impressive. Their size, craftsmanship and luxury is incredible for the time period.

These spider caps are the ones I think I’m going to use on my wheels. Going to powder coat the wheels illusion green. Should look really good and set off the green interior.

Actually quite many models like Charger, Coronet and Valiant had 14´´ wheels with dog dish caps from the factory.
